Germany : CeBIT 2012, which will take place from 6 to 10 March in Hannover, will be placed under the main theme of "Managing Trust". According to the organizer, this theme has been chosen because Trust is the key condition for the growth of the digital economy, and thus the main challenge for IT providers in the future. Like last year, the event will be divided in four platforms : CeBIT pro (the latest trends in business solutions), CeBIT lab (a focus on future technologies), CeBIT gov (IT solutions for healthcare and public sector, where several EU commissioners and politicians will be present) and CeBIT life (consumer-oriented technologies). "This organization has been acclaimed by our visitors and exhibitors last year", explained Frank Pörschmann, the director of Deutsche Messe AG. Five topics will also benefit from a deeper focus : digital drive (automotive IT and mobility), energy efficiency (Smart Grid), healthcare, urban solutions and innovation management and skills. A kind of "Concours Lépine" for startups will also be organized, which will allow 50 innovative companies to show their products, the best being awarded with €25000.
As usually, Planet Reseller will take place in hall 14/15. No data has been yet unveiled about the number of visitors for this channel-oriented part of the show, but Deutsche Messe planned last year a 15% growth, that was almost 100 000 visitors if reached. Globally, CeBIT 2011 gathered 339 000 visitors in 2011, which was slightly more than the previous year. No growth plans have been unveiled yet for 2012. The partner country is this year Brasil, which will be represented by its President, Dilma Rousseff. This country was chosen as the largest economy in South America but also as the organizer of both the 2014 Football World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Beside this, more interesting, Deutsche Messe has inked a partnership with the Russian company Rosar Multimedia, which will organize at the same time a CeBIT event in Moscow, as part of a new "CeBIT 2012 Global Convention Russia-Germany". All conferences which will take place in Moscow and Hannover will be broadcasted in the other city. Also, visitors events in Russia will be able to see visit the exhibition in Germany with a new broadband 3D broadcasting technology from RTCOMM, a subsidiary of Rostelecom. According to the organizers, this extension to Moscow should help the CeBIT to withstand the Asian competition and appeal to a broader number of companies, especially in Eastern Europe and Asia.
Finally, this edition will break the record of the biggest free WiFi hotspot in the world : the full premises will be covered in WiFi in partnership with the local version of Yellow Pages, gelbeseiten.de. This will allow foreign users to have a free access to the Internet, and not rely on expensive roaming. A good news for all Cebit visitors !
