Broadliner Asbis has signed a partnership with Griffin Technology, a vendor of accessories for home, mobile and personal technology. Asbis is now authorized to distribute Griffin’s assortment in 29 countries including Algeria, Bahrain, Belarus, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Dubai, Egypt, Estonia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Morocco, Poland, Romania, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Tunisia, Turkey and Ukraine.
Germany : consumer electronics specialist Comtech has expanded its portfolio with waterproof cameras from American vendor Liquid Image.
South Africa : AxizWorkgroup CEO Doug Woolley is leaving the company to take up a position at Business Connexion (BCX), one of its clients. Woolley is the fifth senior manager out of 25 to leave the company within the past months. Woolley’s post will be filled in an acting capacity by Henry Ferreira, who was set to join AxizWorkgroup’s parent company, Pinnacle, as CEO of distribution this month. Woolley’s departure is a « disruptive » event and the company regrets losing its CEO. However, Ferreira is experienced and will join the company from one of its suppliers, according to Craig’s Brunsden, executive director of the company (source : ITweb South Africa).
Italy : security and telecom VAD Bludis has expanded its portfolio with the antivirus of Czech editor AVG.
Russia : consumer electronics and photo specialist Online Trade has started the distribution of Android tablets made by the local vendor OLT.
Poland : security VAD Dagma has become an authorized training centre for Microsoft security solutions.
France : storage specialist SQP has expanded its portfolio with Sandisk CF and SD flash cards.
United Kingdom : broadliner VIP Computers has added B-Tech’s new range of LCD desktop monitor arm mounts to their portfolio. B-Tech’s newly launched range of ergonomically designed office and home office desktop monitor brackets is a good fit for the distributor as they continue to work closely with corporate VARs and consumer electronics resellers.
Poland : security VAD Akbit has inked a partnership with American firewall specialist XyberSecure, and will propose its XyberShield offer as a SaaS offer to Polish resellers.
Germany : broadliner Bluechip has been appointed official distributor by Masch Software for its CM Studio E-archive email archiving solution.
Following the acquisition of Ztorm by retail specialist Gem Distribution, download specialist Metaboli is said by multiple rumors to be the next target for an acquisition in the distribution market. Distribution giant Arvato is the most rumored potential buyer, albeit strongly denying it. As download distribution is getting more and more important for major distributors, the days of independent digital companies is seemingly coming to an end. Other major potential targets are French companies Eptimum and Nexway (also present in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom).
India : Philips monitor licencee MMD has appointed broadliner Neoteric Infomatique as its exclusive distributor for South and West India. The company’s other regional distributors include Technocrat Infotech in the eastern part of the country and Global Infonet in the northern part of the country.
Sweden : in order to drive its consumer electronic strategy in the country, broadliner Tech Data has hired Christer Schultzberg as Nordic CE division manager. Christer, who previously working for Media Markt, will initially manage a team of about 10 people, a number which should grow to 50 people split between Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden within the next few years.
Italy : Asrock has appointed broadliner Ingram Micro as an official distributor for its motherboards.
Russia : broadliner Merlion has been chosen by Huawei as its first official distributor in the country. The company starts with the distribution of Hi-Universe 3G modems.
France : French software editor Anuman Interactive has appointed digital distributor Eptimum as official partner for the electronic distribution of its tool Web Creator 6.
Poland : Mac specialist iSource has started to promote Incipio and Trexta cases to its resellers.
United Kingdom : multispecialist Avnet Technology Solutions has introduced a new entry level solution to the local market which integrates NetApp’s advanced virtualization feature set and Microsoft’s private cloud solution. Comprehensive integration is provided at the hardware, hypervisor, automation, management and orchestration levels. The new combination is designed to meet the needs of mid-size businesses by offering a starting place to build virtualized storage and private cloud solutions.
British sparepart specialist Gamma Global has recently significantly cut down its European coverage, as it has closed its offices in Poland and Spain. Currently and beside the United Kingdom, it is physically present only in Italy, while its French office has taken its independence some months ago.
