Lenovo selects Arrow ECS as server and storage distributor

Chinese vendor Lenovo has selected infrastructure VAD Arrow ECS as its server and storage distributor for Ireland and the United Kingdom. Lenovo chose Arrow because of its technical server and storage knowledge, experience and end-to-end professional services including pre-sales and post-sales support, as well as other benefits it will bring to Lenovo's channel partners. Arrow has a strong focus on next-generation distribution which involves working with and developing a network of solution providers in offering innovative computing solutions to both SMBs and larger enterprises. This strategic alliance will involve bringing Lenovo's server and storage products to SMB and mid-market, both directly and through the channel. Arrow will distribute Lenovo’s entire server and storage portfolio including its EMC and ThinkServer solutions.

France: Swedish design vendor Bosign has added retail specialist Innelec Multimédia to its distributor stable for its tech accessories.

United Kingdom: telephony retailer and distributor Avenir Telecom has decided to quit the airtime business and has sold this activity to telecom operator Chess for an undisclosed amount. The airtime business accounted for a turnover of €25.6 millions, with 55 employees who will continue to work from their office in Hertfordshire.

Tech Data opens its StreamOne cloud platform

France: after several months of delay, broadliner Tech Data, through its value BU TD Azlan, has at least opened its StreamOne cloud portfolio. Initially, the platform will include Infrastructure-as-a-Service offer from AirVM and Numergy, a part of the Cloud offer of Colt (including its EMC-based disaster recovery offer), Cisco-based UC-as-a-Service offer from Elit Technologies, Mozy Storage-as-a-Service, the Flip IT SMB Desktop-as-a-Service from Verizon (in partnership with independant editor NIL) and Vidyo videoconferencing-as-a-service.

Netherlands: PC component and peripheral specialist Qwerty has inked a distribution deal with Antec for PC cases and power supplies.

Czech Republic: multispecialist Avnet Technology Solutions has hired Radek Šenfeld as sales representative for EMC, in charge of developing business around the brand. Radek previously worked for broadliner Tech Data as sales specialist corporate over the past 5 years.

Germany: just a few weeks after having signed a distribution partnership with BenQ for its video-projectors, telecom and AV VAD Vitec has filled up bankruptcy because of the financial difficulties of its mother company N-Runs. Vitec and its sister company Vicontec activities ought to continue in the future, albeit this remains to be validated.

Arrow ECS launches Solutions Station to help the channel win new business faster

United Kingdom: infrastructure VAD Arrow ECS has launched its Solution Station in the country. The Solution Station is a new online tool designed with the goal to help the channel sell additional solutions to their customers and for vendors to promote their latest technologies. The online hub, with its unique solution finder, allows users to quickly and easily search for a technology then presents them with a list of complementary technologies available from Arrow that they can then offer clients. In addition to its search and solution finder capabilities, Solution Station provides valuable content including news, events, promotional offers and vendor programmes, all designed to help them sell even more effectively. The Solution Station includes features to allow members, upon signing up for an account, to save their favourite solution searches and content to make it easier to reference them for future opportunities. Arrow Recognition Points are awarded to partners when they find, share and recommend content. Points can then be redeemed against benefits within the Arrow Inpartnership scheme. For vendors, Solution Station allows them to position their products against complementary technologies to enable the channel to easily identify additional revenue opportunities. It helps raise awareness of their technologies, helps them to increase their channel base and guarantees that their news, promotions, programmes, training and events are widely promoted.
