NGD hosts TD Azlan’s On-Demand Cloud Services in Europe after NSA fears

Infrastructure VAD TD Azlan has chosen Next Generation Data (NGD)'s Newport, South Wales based data centre to host cloud on-demand software services for customers based in Europe. Azlan's CloudProvider solution is powered by AirVM's AirSembly cloud delivery and commercialisation platform for VMware clouds. It caters to a comprehensive network of VARs who have built or are interested in building their own cloud infrastructure to offer cloud services and computing resources as a hosted solution to their end-user customers, and includes the ability to provide aggregated variable monthly billing to their customers. TD Azlan has chosen a Europe-based datacenter for his cloud offer, upon fears of NSA spying of European companies. A mandatory move, would Tech Data hope to succeed in its cloud strategy in Europe…

Esquire sees sense in Hisense

Hisense, an electronics and white goods manufacturer, has signed South African broadliner Esquire Technologies as a distributor for southern Africa. The distributor will list Hisense LED TVs, smartphones, tablets in its catalog.

DISTREE APAC increases regional coverage for 2014 ICT & CE channel event

DISTREE Asia Pacific (APAC) 2014 has extended its regional coverage to include leading volume distributors, retailers and e-tailers of technology and consumer electronics (CE) products from more than 25 countries across the region. DISTREE APAC 2014 takes place from the 8-10th October 2014 at the Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa Resort in Singapore. DISTREE APAC will host 75 of the leading in-country and regional distributors from across the region and 100 key e-tailers and retailers from 25-plus countries. DISTREE APAC only invites senior channel executives so meetings and discussions are productive and meaningful. Tarox launches its own cloud

Germany: broadliner Tarox has launched its Tarox Data datacenter offer. Instead on relying a classic, single datacenter, the distributor has built 10 smaller, interconnected datacenters in Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover, Luxembourg, Munich, Nuremberg, ​​Saarbrücken and Stuttgart. The Steam Wallet Keys are codes that allow players on Steam to deposit values into their Steam Wallet and facilitate purchases on the gaming platform. This will remove restrictions that the customers might have faced in the past when it came to support and security. According to industry estimates, the Middle East is responsible for more than US$ 100 million in online gaming revenues, with the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait having significant share in the industry.

Fortinet completes its partnership with Exclusive Networks

Germany: already partners in many other European countries (Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, Maghreb, the Middle East, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom), network security vendor Fortinet has completed its partnership with network and security VAD Exclusive Networks as it now also works with its German subsidiary.

Netherlands: vulnerability and patch management editor Secunia has appointed security specialist DCC Nederland as official distributor.

Ingram Micro launches IM Secure

United Kingdom: broadliner Ingram Micro and its Value BU has launched IM Secure platform, a security-dedicated one-stop-shop to help resellers through the threat management landscape. IM Secure includes a training portal, events schedule, marketing development funds, dedicated support from a business development manager and even a comprehensive Security Partner Programme which will provide reseller partners with the opportunity to complete free training through Ingram Micro's "Learn Smart, Earn Smart" Portal. To start with, IM Secure includes campaigns from Kaspersky Lab, McAfee and Symantec. Other vendors will be added upon time.

Big Technology signs with Unidesk

Storage and datacenter VAD Big Technology will distribute Unidesk's virtualisation desktop infrastructure (VDI) management software to its reseller partners. Unidesk chose Big Technology in order to grow its channel and expand European market reach. The VAD already has relationships with several Unidesk alliance partners, including Nutanix and Tegile. Unidesk's software enhances VMWare Horizon View and Citrix XenDesktop implementations with simple desktop provisioning, application layering, image management and storage optimisation, which will enable Big Technology’s resellers to address their customers’ datacentre issues. The partnership is seemingly limited to the United Kingdom initially, although an extension to Belux, France and the Netherlands can be expected really soon.

Russia: broadliner Merlion has expanded its video-security offer with products from Chinese vendor ZNV.

Germany: telephony specialist Komsa has inked a deal with nfon, to distribute its complete product IP phone portfolio, including its cloud-based offer.

Westcon adds Motorola Psion to its product portfolio

South Africa: Motorola Solutions' customers from within the Westcon stable can now comfortably introduce Psion mobile computing solutions into their business proposals. Following the acquisition of Psion by Motorola Solutions in 2013, Westcon Group has been nominated distributor of the Psion portfolio of products, which now falls under the Motorola IMC (Industrial Mobile Computing) portfolio. This is a perfect addition to the Motorola Solutions product portfolio and gives customers access to an enhanced range of mobile computing solutions, with a proven track record, a global support network and the ability to service expanded industrial markets. The Motorola brand forms a critical component of the Westcon Mobility Solutions product line-up locally and is supported by the distributor's expansive support network. Westcon also affords reseller partners access to a series of value-added offerings geared to assist them in including the products to their own service offerings. These services include backup stock, vendor attached services, virtual warehousing, training (where appropriate), as well as prepping and staging of equipment before delivery.

Hama becomes exclusive distributor for Fresh’n Rebel Powerbanks

United Kingdom: accessory and cabling vendor and distributor Hama has added Fresh'n Rebels powerbanks to its portfolio of mobile device accessories. The company is the only distributor in the country for these products, which include two battery sizes, 2600mAh and 5200mAh.
