TD Azlan creates an incubation center for ISV

France: infrastructure VAD TD Azlan has opened up in its Colombes premises an incubation center for French and foreign (USA, Israel, Canada, India) ISVs, along with an access to its "Who's Next" programme. The goal of this incubation center is to help editors start up their business in France, alongside the main distributor of the market. According to the distributor, targetted ISVs should offer innovative solutions in mobility, cloud, security, Big Data or IoT businesses. The "Who's Next" programme will allow them to access to Tech Data sales, marketing and BI ressources to better understand the French market, and address it accordingly. All selected ISVs will have at hand a full work infrastructure in TD Azlan offices in Colombes (office, meeting room, video-conferencing, training center, etc.) as well as a business address, all this near the main decision centers of the western suburb of Paris.

Entatech sharpens product focus and launches multi-touch campaigns

United Kingdom: while having lost Fujitsu Technology Solutions distribution card, broadliner Entatech has sharpened its focus on its product portfolio offering, condensing its divisions from nine to four. Entatech has undergone a product rebrand, housing its brands into four key areas:

  • PC Components & Gaming
  • Systems & Peripherals
  • Networking & Connected Home and;
  • Retail & Software

To support this, Entatech have devised a series of multi-touch campaigns to share the vision with their resellers, demonstrating its current and planned position within these key product areas.

"My vision with Entatech is to drastically sharpen the focus and only compete in areas where we have a significant and demonstrable competence in the eyes of the customer. I believe what we don't do is currently more important than what we are doing – and that will involve some very tough decisions", said Dave Stevinson, Entatech Managing Director.

The distributor has also appointed David Atherton as Chairman. The company is strengthening its management structure with the appointment of David Atherton who will chair the existing board of directors – namely Dave Stevinson, Rob Davis and Colin Lee. Entatech have invested heavily throughout 2015 with a new ERP and analytics system and the company is now reaping the benefits of the system efficiencies and operational effectiveness.

Blackberry appoints Digilife as National Distributor

India: enterprise software and smartphone maker BlackBerry has roped in broadliner Digilife Distribution and Marketing Services, the distribution business of HCL Infosystems, as the national distributor of its enterprise products and solutions in the country, aimed at increasing the total addressable market for these products. The move to extend the reach to new segments such small and medium enterprises and startups, besides the big enterprises coincides with BlackBerry's revival strategy under which it is rebuilding its business with focus on enterprise sales. "Enterprise software and solutions is really our growth engine. Our go to market strategy has now changed, and the appointment of HCL as our national distributor for enterprise products is a part of the new strategy," BlackBerry India managing director Narendra Nayak said (source: Economic Times India).

Veeam in the V-Valley

Italy: virtualization vendor Veeam has appointed V-Valley, the infrastructure VAD division of broadliner Esprinet, as official distributor in the country, beside incumbent Avnet TS, Computer Gross and Systematika Distribution.

ViDiS distributes Einstein

Poland: AV specialist ViDiS has inked a partnership with Fourier Education, to distribute its Einstein STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) platform, including devices and apps, throughout the country (source: CRN Polska).

Evanssion and Networks Unlimited ink distribution deal with Rubrik

MEA: Dubai-based network and security VAD Evanssion and South-African infrastructure VAD Networks Unlimited have expanded their solutions portfolio by signing a distribution agreement with Rubrik, a company focused on converged data management. Under the agreement, Networks Unlimited will distribute Rubrik's Converged Data Management platform, which delivers web-scale automated backup, instant recovery, unlimited replication, and data archival on the English-speaking part of the continent through its offices in Kenya and South Africa, while Evanssion will focus on the Middle East region. The agreement enables Rubrik to expand its presence in the Middle East and Africa, while allowing Evanssion to broaden its portfolio and serve a greater variety of requirements. Rubrik highlighted that it had experienced rapid customer growth in North America, and has launched its operations in the EMEA region in response to tremendous customer and partner demands. Its Converged Data Management software powers the company's r300/r500 Series appliances, which deliver automated backup, instant recovery, unlimited replication, and data archival at infinite scale. The company was recently named a Gartner Cool Vendor in storage Technologies.

Jacobsz adds that it will be targeting the enterprise market, large corporations and financial services, especially those deploying 200 VMs or more. "Networks Unlimited will first focus on South Africa prior to expanding the product into Africa", Jacobsz says.

The announcement follows on the heels of Rubrik's response to tremendous customer and partner demand in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), launching its availability into this region.

New partners for ABC Data, Arrow ECS and SWS and a new marketing manager for ASBIS

Broadliner ABC Data has been appointed by Danish vendor Sandberg as official distributor for its accessories and small peripherals in both Czech Republic and Slovakia1. Meanwhile, cyber-security and malware protection specialist FireEye has chosen infrastructure VAD Arrow ECS as official distributor in the same countries2, while broadliner SWS has extended its partnership with LG to its A/V products, which it will distribute in the region through its offices in Czech Republic and Slovakia. Finally, broadliner ASBIS CZ has appointed Lucia Germanová as its new marketing manager3. Switzerland: supply specialist Ecomedia has poached André Riedi from Hama as new print supplys key account manager1. Broadliner Ingram Micro has expanded its Dell offer with all the value products from the Texan vendors (including server, storage and network products), which will be distributed by its Advanced value division. Security, storage and AV specialist Littlebit has unveiled a new own brand, Joule Performance, which will be used on high-end gaming PCs2. Sparepart specialist SCS Computer Systems has started the distribution of the Montage wireless presentation system from DisplayNote Technologies inthe country3. Finally, consumer electronics specialist Soundtrade has extented its partnership with Japanese vendor JVC to its audio products, camcorders and headphones. TD Azlan underlines commitment to partners with new additions to enterprise development teams

United Kingdom: infrastructure VAD TD Azlan has made a number of appointments that strengthen its ability to support partners in delivering enterprise-class solutions to their customers. The company has recently announced the appointments of Jody Taylor as its dedicated Veritas Business Manager and Adam Wilcox as Business Manager for Lenovo and Nutanix. Jody Taylor's appointment underlines TD Azlan's commitment to Veritas as the leading player in the information management space. She has joined from competitor Arrow ECS where she spent almost seven years managing Symantec and latterly, EMC. Taylor was previously at Symantec itself and has also worked at Huawei and HP in the course of her 24-year career in the industry. Adam Wilcox steps into the newly-created role of Business Manager for both Lenovo and Nutanix having spent the past 15 months as Lenovo Enterprise Business Development Manager. He will be responsible for driving Lenovo and Nutanix business across the enterprise, mid-market and SMB sectors. Wilcox has been with the company in a variety of product and business management roles for over a decade.

Ingram distributes Sony

France: the mobility division of broadliner Ingram Micro has inked a partnership with Sony to distribute its tablets and smartphones throught corporate resellers.

Partner Tech Europe chooses Ingram Micro

German POS vendor Partner Tech Europe has chosen broadliner Ingram Micro as its first pan-European distributor. Ingram Micro will distribute all mobile terminals as well as a selection of fixed PoS products from Partner Tech through the PoS BU of its Specialty Solutions division in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Vitec Imago in partnership with Shoretel

German AV VAD Vitec Imago has been appointed by Shoretel as official distributor for the DACH (Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein and Switzerland) region. With Shoretel products, Vitec Imago intends to target the SMB market throughout the region.

Alex Teh leaving Infinigate

United Kingdom: Alex Teh has revealed he plans to remain in the IT security industry after calling time on his 15-year stint at network and security VAD Infinigate. Teh founded Infinigate UK, originally Vigil Software, in 2001 with business partner Murray Pearce, who will become the firm's sole managing director on Teh's departure. It is more than three years since Infinigate acquired Vigil, meaning both Teh and Pearce have completed their earn-outs. Native New Zealander Teh said he plans to move back to Auckland at the end of September. The UK was Infinigate's fastest-growing territory in the Switzerland-headquartered VAD's fiscal 2015 – which saw group sales close in on the €300m mark – and Teh claimed he will be leaving the firm in sound shape (source: Channelweb United Kingdom).

GS2i launches a managed print offer

France: software and security specialist GS2i jumps in the managed print service market, with the launch of two contracts, the first covering ink only, while the second also including maintenance. Compared to the competition, both contracts are vendor-agnostic and are based on a software which detects and manages all printers used by the end customer.

New brands for Exertis Unlimited, Lidera Networks and Tech Data

Spain: Mac and retail specialist Exertis Unlimited (the new name for Exertis Computers Unlimited) has started the distribution of Osmo educative accessories in the country. At the same time, network and security VAD Lidera Networks has been chosen by local hreat-focused static and dynamic analysis editor Buguroo as official distributor for both Portugal and Spain. Finally, broadliner Tech Data has added Haier smart, Android-based LCD televisions to its portfolio (source: Channel Partner España).

News from Digis, Marvel, Merlion and OCS Distribution

Russia: Russian distributors try to adapt to the sanctions and the reduction of the local demand. AV specialist Digis has acquired hi-fi specialist Alef Hi-Fi, the goal being for Digis to expand its offer, and for Alef Hi-Fi to optimize its costs while accessing to a broader offer of services1. On their side, broadliners Marvel, Merlion and OCS Distribution continue to expand their offer, trying to counterbalance the decrease of sales with more vendors in the remaining active markets. Both Marvel and Merlion bet on video-security (which indeed may meet a boom in the country with the latest freedom-repressive laws of Putin government), with distribution deals respectively with Vanderbilt2 and DSSL (ActiveCam)3. On its side, OCS Distribution has expanded its portfolio with Tenda soho network products4 (source: CRN Rossiya 1, 2, 3 and 4).

OCZ appoints GTI

Flash vendor OCS has signed a distribution deal with broadliner GTI, covering the whole Iberian peninsula. GTI will distribute its SSD through its offices in Portugal and Spain (source: IT Channel Portugal).

Ingram Micro reviews its organization

Sweden: in order to optimize its organization in the country, broadliner Ingram Micro has decided to put its two businesses in the country (broadline, based in Stockholm, and mobility, based in Göteborg) under a single management. Anders Wickström thus becomes the country director for all activities of the company (Technology Solutions, Mobility, Cloud, Commerce & Fulfillment Solutions as well as Lifecycle Services). The commercial management team for the new Swedish organization will be represented by Tomas Gate (Value), Mattias Johansson (Mobility), Fredrik Westerén (product and marketing), Tony Kalomirakis (corporate resellers), Björn Nilsson (sales operations), Joakim Samuelsson (business development Nordics and Baltics) and Jens Enskog (Mobility) (source: IT Kanalen Sverige).

Metra Group unveils Philips mobile phones in UAE

Middle East: broadliner Metra Group has launched the latest models of Philips mobile phones in the UAE and the broader Middle East market. Philips launched its first GSM device in 1991 and its latest smartphones come with patented Xenium and Soft Blue technology, which actively reduces 86% of blue light and thereby makes the devices far less damaging and reduces stress on eyes. Metra said Philips mobile range is vast and accommodates all needs of consumers in the market. "We are extremely excited to be handling Philips mobile Phone business in the Middle East", said Tamer Elshourbagy, executive vice president at Metra Group. "The Middle East market is highly competitive and one of the most tech-savvy around on the globe. We have no doubt that the Philips range of phones will attract a lot of interest in the UAE and broader Middle East", he added. Metra said it has identified markets for the new mobile offerings from Philips.
