Beta, Prianto and Northamber sign new partners, while Entatech closes an office

United Kingdom: peripheral and supply specialist Beta Distribution has been appointed as an Authorised Distributor for the Philips range of Professional Display Solutions. Joel Chimoindes, newly appointed Managing Director of Beta Digital Media Solutions from Tech Data, said, "this is a very significant step in our digital signage business development. The Philips brand name needs no introduction and their reputation in the TVs and screen markets is outstanding. In the business arena they have an equally compelling proposition and it’s a massive endorsement of our growing reputation in the digital signage market that they have chosen to appoint Beta."

Graeme Little, Sales Director at Beta Digital Media Solutions and also coming from Tech Data alongside technical director Craig Chester, added, "selling a screen can be a simple transaction, providing content services however ties in the end user and creates real value in the Reseller/customer relationship. In simple terms this means designing, creating and managing the messages, adverts, feeds and everything else that will be displayed on the screen. We've invested in a team of designers who are experts in creating captivating, high quality content. All the Reseller needs to do is sell the service – we'll do the rest on their behalf."

Storage vendor Altaro has signed distribution agreements with security VAD Prianto and broadliner Northamber as it looks to boost its VMware and education markets respectively1. The Malta-based vendor previously attributed 95% of its business to Microsoft Hyper-V, before a VMware push in May saw that figure decrease to 80 per cent. Colin Wright, vice president of EMEA sales at Altaro, said: "Prianto are a very key signing for us because of their historic links to the VMware channel. Their experience with virtualised backup and their strong focus on value-add is key. We fit perfectly in that mid-market space where there is a huge opportunity for Prianto and their channel partners to do very well with the products and the margins that we offer."

Altaro was founded in 2006 and uses distribution in every other European region it operates in, with the UK being the exception until now. "We've done very well with distribution in every other part of Europe", explained Wright. "The UK was the only region where we ended up with a one-tier model. Revenue wise, the UK has been very good for us. But to scale up to the next level, we need distribution. We need an introduction to those partners that we don't have relationships with as a vendor. We can't succeed in getting where we need to without distribution playing a key part in our go-to-market."

The vendor signed with Northamber to focus on resellers in the education market, which Wright said is one of Altaro's key sectors. "The education market is very strong for them. Education is one of our key markets, so we want to augment that even more. We're talking to them about creating specific hardware appliances with Hyper-V, VMware and Altaro installed on the box", he explained. "Northamber can then go out to an MSP with a box that supports 50 workloads. Northamber is very key for us in terms of that ability to take a hardware backup appliance to market."

Broadliner Entatech has closed its southern office following the loss of its contract with Fujitsu2. The distributor launched the Chessington office in 2013 with a quintet of staff poached from rival Northamber. The rented office conducted Entatech's enterprise business, which was centred on Fujitsu, a contract it lost this summer following a distribution review at the Japanese vendor. Affected staff have either been taken on by fellow Fujitsu distributor Exertis or Fujitsu marketing agency Outbound, Entatech managing director Dave Stevinson said (source: Channelweb United Kingdom 1 and 2).

A new director for 8Soft

Germany: open source and security software VAD 8Soft has promoted Anke Pawla as new managing director. Anke is a longtime employee of the distributor, as she built up its Hannover subsidiary in 2011 and was sales director since 2013.

Logicom helps partners and their customers embrace the Cloud through Microsoft CSP program

Broadliner Logicom has been appointed by Microsoft for the Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) Program for Cyprus, Greece and Malta. The program is designed to strengthen customer relationships and expand cloud sales opportunities by enabling channel partners to provision, bundle, invoice, manage and support Microsoft Cloud offerings including Microsoft Office 365, Azure, Microsoft CRM Online and Windows Intune subscriptions with greater ease and efficiency. Through its participation in the CSP Program, Logicom will offer its partners monthly-based billing subscriptions along with monthly bills for other services, so that partners will receive only a single invoice each month. Logicom will also provide additional value-added services to its partners, including support and migration services. Partners will thus be able to accelerate their sales of Cloud Services by adding value to their own customer base and building their own bundles.

"The Cloud Solution Provider Program puts our partners at the center of the customer relationship", said Phil Sorgen, Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Partner Group at Microsoft Corp. "Through participation, these partners have demonstrated dedication to helping our mutual customers successfully move to the cloud."

Products and Services from the CSP Program will be integrated into the Logicom Cloud Marketplace, expected to roll out by the end of July 2016. The Logicom Cloud Marketplace is a result of Logicom's recent strategic partnership with ALSO Cloud, which offers an advanced cloud solutions environment that will cater for state-of-the-art customer experience. "The appointment of Logicom as a Microsoft CSP provider, enables us to offer advance cloud solutions to our partners and their clients through the Logicom Cloud Marketplace. This is another bold step and investment by Logicom for helping our partners and their clients advance in the new cloud world", said Varnavas Irinarchos, CEO of Logicom.
