Credence Security to expand in Europe

Dubai-based security VAD Credence Security, which is owned by Swedish security firm Cognosec, has acquired UK-based security specialist A-tek Distribution for €290k in cash and shares. The purchase expands Credence Security’s current product portfolio to incorporate cyber security solutions for secure operation centres, network operation centres, datacentres, mobile platforms, virtualised environments as well as providing fraud prevention solutions into the technology, media, telecommunications, financial and public sectors. "We are delighted to broaden and deepen our business in line with our strategies through the acquisition of A-tek, a highly respected and experienced team", said Robert Brown, CEO of Cognosec. "Through A-tek, Cognosec will be extending its customer base with the addition of web-based digital distribution portals covering existing and new segments of this growing market. Cognosec recognises the expansion of distribution of cyber security software through innovative portal solutions providing products and services with a strong emphasis on the SME markets as our strategic focus." Robert Hall, A-tek Distribution's co-founder, said the firm would work with Cognosec "to secure additional distribution agreements giving our current and future partners tremendous platforms for future growth, productivity and profitability."

AplusK displays on Philips

Philips has added AV and telecom VAD AplusK as an official distributor in the Benelux region. Through its offices in Belgium and the Netherlands, AplusK will distribute all Philips' signage solutions.

New business development and sales hires boost strength of Azlan virtualisation team

United Kingdom: infrastructure VAD Azlan is making further investments to support resellers on growing virtualisation business, appointing its first dedicated VMware Business Development Manager, hiring an additional manager to cover the northern region of the UK, and increasing the headcount of its internal focused team. Alan Taylor has been appointed as VMware Business Development Manager, moving across from his previous role of Reseller Account Manager. He will be working closely with partners on programmes and initiatives to drive growth of non-core VMware solutions, such as NSX, vSAN and AirWatch. Azlan has also appointed Rebecca Clarke as Business Development Manager for Virtualisation covering the northern region of the UK. She brings more than three years in enterprise distribution sales to the role. Michele Nicholson will now focus on the south. In addition, Azlan has hired two additional staff to work in its Heathrow-based virtualisation team, swelling its ranks to 21.

Virginia Cowles, Virtualisation Business Unit Manager at Azlan, said: "Azlan is fully committed to supporting resellers in developing their virtualisation business. These additional appointments and investments add even more expertise and experience to our team and make Azlan even better-equipped to support partner growth and help our vendor partners achieve their goals."

Another office for ScanSource Communications

Poland: a few months after the opening of a local office for its POS business, American multispecialist ScanSource has opening a new office in Warsaw, Poland, for its ScanSource Communications network and telecom VAD business. With the opening of ScanSource Communications Polska, ScanSource can better serve its reseller partners in the region, providing dedicated service and support. By enhancing its presence in Poland, ScanSource Communications enables its vendor partners to broaden their reach and assists resellers looking to grow their communications business in the region. ScanSource can also invoice its reseller customers in Poland in Polish zloty, making it even easier to do business.

"We are pleased to be able to support resellers in Poland with the opening of our new office", said James Vickerage, president, ScanSource Communications, Europe. "We are committed to investing in the region – both with our resellers and our vendors. The easier it is for our partners to do business with us, the more time they have to focus on customer service and growing their business."

ScanSource Communications will immediately begin providing support to Unify partners in the region with their unified communications business. "We are happy for ScanSource as they increase their presence in Poland, and are pleased to extend our relationship with ScanSource there", said Ritesh Patel, vice president, distribution, for Unify. "This is great step towards driving a competitive offering via a distribution model that supports the sale of Unify products in the region.". Beside Poland, ScanSource Communications owns offices in Belgium, France, Germany and the United Kingdom.

DACH: in Germany, cloud VAD Acmeo, which has hired former API distribution manager Udo Schillings as its new marketing and vendor management director, has strengthened its IaaS offer with solutions from Berlin-based provider ProfitBricks. Mac specialist Comline has inked a distribution deal with HP for its Premium notebooks and PCs. The partnership also covers the French market. Security VAD JakobSoftware has hired Torsten Kaufmann as data solutions sales manager. Torsten was previously working with for Novastor as partner account manager and is not a newcomer among distributors, as he has also been account manager for security VAD Wick Hill some years ago. Thin computing, network and security VAD Sysob has opened up a new BU dedicated to the Server and Storage market. Managed by former Rombus manager Ralph Koch, the BU counts four employees and focuses initially on Supermicro products. In Switzerland, broadliner Alltron has been chosen by Italian vendor Microtech as a distributor for its Android tablets.
