American broadliner Tech Data has introduced its new brand identity, highlighting the company's expanded reach and capabilities as a global leader in technology distribution and services. Following the company's transformational acquisition of Avnet's Technology Solutions business earlier this year, Tech Data has established a single global brand that capitalizes on the full reach, efficiency, and technical expertise of its new combined organization. Tech Data will now operate as a unified brand in all of its markets throughout the world, enabling channel partners to benefit from its unmatched end-to-end portfolio of products, solutions, and services. Iberia: broadliner Tech Data has introduced its combined management team in Iberia, following the successful completion of the acquisition of Avnet Technology Solutions. Santiago Méndez will lead the combined Azlan and Technology Solutions organization in Iberia, reporting to Oriol Cornudella, regional managing director, Tech Data Iberia, who is supported by Pauli Amat, country manager Tech Data Spain and Augusto Soveral, country manager Tech Data Portugal. Méndez will be supported in the Azlan and Technology Solutions organization by Ladislau Lopes, director, Azlan Portugal. Méndez says: "the acquisition of the Technology Solutions business and its integration with Azlan has created in Spain and Portugal a premier global IT distributor with unmatched capabilities and the most diverse end-to-end solutions from the data center to the living room. Azlan and Technology Solutions will operate a 'best of both worlds' model that combines the existing vendor-oriented structure of the Azlan business with the specialist business units of Technology Solutions. This will deliver a combination of unique capabilities that allows us to accelerate our progress in these markets for the benefit of our customers."
United Kingdom: display vendor ViewSonic has entered a new agreement with AV distribution expert Maverick, following the success of their collaborations in France and Spain. The agreement sees Maverick become an official distributor of ViewSonic's AV products. Maverick are now offering next day availability on ViewSonic product ranges to its channel partners. Audio specialist PolarAudio has agreed a deal to become Radial Engineering's sole distributor in the country of Radial brands (Radial, Tonebone and Primacoustic). John Midgley, Polar MD, said: "Primacoustic is the first acoustic treatment product line we have been involved with and will dovetail well not only with our range of studio equipment but also into the wider installation sphere. Clearly, we are delighted to have secured this exclusive deal which expands and broadens the scope of our portfolio." Cabling and networking specialist Mayflex has opened training, meeting, and demonstration facilities in Scotland. Located at Maxim Business Park, Eurocentral, the office is operational since early April, and feature an M-Tech product demonstration area, as currently operated in London and Birmingham together with space for training sessions, meetings and presentations. Finally, telecom VAD Nimans is building a major warehouse expansion. Work has begun to increase floor space by over a third, with the multi-million-euro scheme on the outskirts of Manchester due to be completed by October. Chairman Julian Niman says the project represents a high profile symbol of how Nimans is gearing up for an even brighter future – ahead of the imminent launch of a new trade catalogue which showcases an expanded 8,000 strong product range.

The addition of Technology Solutions significantly broadens Tech Data's value-added distribution business (aka Azlan), increasing the company's ability to help its partners capitalize on next-generation technologies while enhancing its go-to-market capabilities with complementary skills, expanded vendor relationships, and new customer sets. The combined company has a larger and more balanced geographic footprint, including a presence in the Asia-Pacific region, a new market for Tech Data. The total purchase price at close was approximately €2.35 billion (subject to certain post-close adjustments), including €2.17 billion in cash, and 2,785,402 shares of Tech Data stock, representing approximately 7.3% of Tech Data's shares outstanding (after issuance of the new shares). Tech Data financed the cash portion of the purchase price through a combination of €900 million from its recent public debt offering and €900 million of bank term loans, and the remainder from drawings under other credit facilities and cash on hand. The transaction is expected to be significantly accretive to Tech Data's non-GAAP earnings per share in the first full year. The company expects to achieve annual cost savings of approximately €90 million within 24 months, with one-time costs to achieve these cost savings expected to be approximately €135 million.

Network and security VAD Ingecom has hired Cristina López as its new marketing director4. Cristina has long been working for IT press group BPS, lately as editor in chief of Data Center Market magazine. Network and security VAD Ireo Soluciones y Servicios has been chosen by French UTM vendor Stormshield as official distributor in the country5. AV specialist Maverick has added Logitech IP video-conferencing solutions to its catalog. Broadliner MCR has expanded its gaming offer with SteelSeries accessories.
