Exertis appoints Business Intelligence Manager
2017-07-31

United Kingdom: broadliner Exertis has appointed Jonathan Wagstaff to the newly created position of Business Intelligence Manager. Based in Basingstoke with a European remit, his role will help to identify trends in the technology market, including new technologies, significant new market players (vendors, customers, operators, and others) and the impact of these new technologies on the distribution space. He will report to Stephen Casey, Finance & Development Director at DCC Technology.

"I am delighted to welcome Jonathan to Exertis. Exertis has undergone a successful period of growth with several key acquisitions across the Group. Whilst we have a very strong technology proposition, it's important we continue to identify and translate market opportunities into actions that can benefit our business, and also the business of our vendor partners and reseller customers both in existing and new territories. Jonathan's experience in data analytics and how the channel operates is ideally suited to fulfilling the task of providing business intelligence that can enable us to take the right decisions to meet our Group objectives", said Casey.

Wagstaff joins from Context, a leading European data analyst company that tracks sales and pricing information from within the IT channel, where he managed EMEA wide data collection projects for major ICT vendors and had responsibility for the UK and IE distribution, reseller and retail panels. He was also instrumental in setting up Context's VR Research Group and PC Gaming category tracking. Wagstaff said: "having worked at Context, I appreciate the importance of interpreting data and identifying trends, and the value that business analytics can bring to companies when making critical decisions. Data is often called the new oil; as distribution rapidly evolves and margins feel pressure its importance has shifted. Exertis is one of the largest and most successful technology distributors in Europe and their ambition to grow profitably, whilst looking for new market opportunities based on sound business intelligence, was a challenge that appealed to me."

With degrees from Oxford and Johns Hopkins Universities, Wagstaff has been a regular contributor to IT trade titles on research matters and has spoken at many industry events including the Plug In To Exertis channel event in May. He has specialist knowledge of the UK ICT supply chain and the global VR, Smart Home, and PC Gaming markets.

Exertis enhances AV specialism with Medium acquisition
2016-12-28

United Kingdom: broadliner Exertis has purchased AV specialist Medium for an undisclosed amount. Gerry O'Keefe, Exertis, managing director UK&I said: "Medium has an unrivalled reputation for customer service, industry knowledge and offering specialist support and solutions in key areas of the AV market. The company has built strong customer and vendor relationships, and its technical expertise will strengthen our ability to implement a full suite of professional AV solutions into the B2B market where our complementary products and services will provide opportunities for additional growth." Ian Sempers, Medium managing director, said: "we are delighted to be joining forces with Exertis. The continued convergence of the IT and AV market means we will be in a great position to service a sector that extends beyond traditional AV solutions. Our expertise and technical knowledge in this market combined with Exertis' wider product portfolio will provide a compelling proposition for resellers and vendors." The acquisition of Medium, follows the announcement of Exertis' intention to acquire server and storage specialist Hammer, and is further evidence of the company’s strategy to provide a complete range of technology solutions from home to IT, mobile and enterprise whilst maintaining specialist expertise in key market segments. Its AV division was recently highly commended in the AV awards 2016.

Exertis to acquire Hammer
2016-11-24

Irish distribution group DCC Technology, which trades as Exertis, has announced its intention to acquire storage VAD Hammer, subject to approval from the European Commission. Hammer has offices in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom, employing 165 personnel. It generated sales of €180.6m for the twelve months ended 31 January 2016 and distributes products from a leading range of vendors including Dell, Intel, Netapp, Seagate and Western Digital, to almost 1,000 value added resellers, cloud service providers and systems integrators. The acquisition, which is based on an initial enterprise value of €46.3 million will strengthen Exertis' enterprise portfolio and enhance its capability in the mid- and higher range server and storage market. Customers of Hammer will benefit from exposure to a wider range of products distributed through Exertis including networking, security and unified communications. Following regulatory approvals, expected to be completed by the end of 2016, Hammer will continue to operate as a standalone business with both entities capitalising on the benefits of the acquisition, to ensure that Hammer's specialism is not diluted.

Niall Ennis, DCC Technology managing director, said: "Hammer has enjoyed considerable success in providing value-added services and bespoke solutions in a number of vertical markets for their customers and has a well-earned reputation as a storage specialist. The acquisition has significant benefits for both companies increasing Exertis' expertise and solutions in the storage market, complementary to our existing server and enterprise business, and providing Hammer customers and vendors with a platform for growth within a diverse and financially strong technology distribution company. In addition, this deepens Exertis' presence across several European countries."

James Ward, Hammer managing director, said: "We see great synergy and opportunities for our customers, vendors and employees in joining Exertis. By leveraging the complementary strengths of both companies we can only add value to what is an exciting proposition for all our stakeholders. We look forward to working with Exertis management teams and building on the success of both companies."

Exertis to take digital distribution by Ztorm
2016-10-28

Broadliner Exertis has announced its intention to further expand the online and instore, leading edge, digital delivery infrastructure solutions to retailers through its Ztorm subsidiary. Exertis Ztorm has been at the forefront of digital distribution for a decade and boasts an enviable catalogue of titles from the world's premier publishers and software houses. Its innovative solutions enable retailers to take the step from physical to digital without the costs, hassle and logistics involved with traditional POSA cards.

Exertis Ztorm managing director Annica Lejdeborn said "our focus is to help etailers and retailers deploy a cost-effective and reliable method for digital delivery. We have tested solutions for all store types ranging from small independents to large retailers or etailers. Each solution can adapt and grow according to the needs of the client. Exertis Ztorm's print instore, dynamic, no-risk alternative to POSA cards provides great advantages to retailers who can also take advantage of the promotional and marketing support provided by the Exertis retail teams."

Exertis Ztorm has relationships with all the leading publishers and a growing catalogue of titles from companies that include Adobe, EA, McAfee, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Symantec and Ubisoft.
