More business for 4SECGroup, Azlan, Brightstar, Ci Distribution, Exertis, Midwich and Northamber

United Kingdom: network and security VAD Alpha Generation Distribution has been acquired by its competitor 4Sec Group for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition of 100% of Alpha Generation's share capital represents the next stage in the company's journey, combining new plans for the future with the team, expertise, and approach that has grown the business to this point. "Alpha Generation is an established VAD with a strong vendor and product portfolio", says Grahame Smee, Group Managing Director at 4Sec Group. "But, crucially, the company shares 4Sec Group's relentless focus on delivering value to the channel. With this new acquisition, Alpha Generation effectively becomes the VAD arm of the 4Sec Group and we'll continue to build on the foundation of our existing vendors and channel customers as we move forwards."

Former Arc staff resurface with new security VAD

United Kingdom: A band of former Arc Distribution employees has formed a new security VAD after concluding that recent market consolidation has left a gap for a new entrant. Led by former Arc boss Stuart Reay, Alpha Generation Distribution recently launched and counts Secunia, WinMagic and Network Instruments as its first three vendor signings. Five of Alpha Gen's seven staff are ex-Arc and Exclusive employees, including former Arc marketing director Mark Weatherill, who has taken an equity stake in the distributor after joining this week. Alpha Gen intends to have six vendors on board by the end of 2014 but Reay said the distributor is unlikely to dabble in the anti-virus space. Alpha Gen, which is based near Nottingham, has traded with 15 VARs so far and will soon begin offering training and support services (source : CRN UK).
