American broadliner Tech Data has introduced its new brand identity, highlighting the company's expanded reach and capabilities as a global leader in technology distribution and services. Following the company's transformational acquisition of Avnet's Technology Solutions business earlier this year, Tech Data has established a single global brand that capitalizes on the full reach, efficiency, and technical expertise of its new combined organization. Tech Data will now operate as a unified brand in all of its markets throughout the world, enabling channel partners to benefit from its unmatched end-to-end portfolio of products, solutions, and services. United Kingdom: broadliner Tech Data has been appointed as an official distributor for the full range of fitbit activity trackers and is looking to extend the reach of the popular wearables to new areas of the market, including the corporate and healthcare sectors. fitbit's innovative products are designed to inspire people to live a healthier and more active life. The company makes a wide range of fitness bands to suit all kinds of users and its full range will be available from Tech Data. fitbit’s software integrates onto laptops, tablets and smartphones and as well as meeting the growing demand for activity tracking and personal monitoring, the company is also targeting the corporate wellness market.
Paul Jacobs, Business Unit Director for CE and Accessories, said: "fitbit motivates people to reach their health and fitness goals by tracking their activity. Millions of consumers all over the world do that already using fitbit products and businesses are also using wearables to support and encourage employees in leading healthy lifestyles, so there is a tremendous amount of potential."
In the US, there are insurance firms that offer benefits including shopping vouchers for recording a certain number of steps per day on their fitbit, and other schemes that offer users frequent flyer points for every day they achieve a certain goal, such as 10,000 steps. One health insurer's scheme gives members a direct cash reward, paid into a flexible savings account, for completing a certain number of steps every day.
"The reach of wearables is being extended and the opportunities could be massive", Jacobs added. "We will be working closely with fitbit in partnership with ISVs and API integration specialists in this area to target reseller partners with ideas or specific opportunities they want to develop - we'd love to hear from them."

United Kingdom: broadliner Tech Data has made a further investment in meeting the needs of its retailer customers by appointing Teresa Johnson to the post of Retail Account Director. Jenny Parkinson, who has joined Tech Data from New Dawn Innovations, steps into Johnson's previous post of Business Development Manager for Smart Home and Networking. In her new role, Johnson will be responsible for managing some of Tech Data's key retailer accounts and helping to develop the company's overall approach and strategy to consumer-facing partners. Jenny Parkinson arrives with more than three years of experience working in various positions in retail-focused distribution and becomes part of a growing team within Tech Data's Consumer Technology Group focused on opening new potential with ground-breaking technologies.

United Kingdom: broadliner Tech Data has signed a distribution agreement with Propel, a developer of consumer drones and remote-control helicopters and the company responsible for the exciting new Star Wars drones, which promise to amongst the best-selling toys this Christmas season. Propel range includes some of the best-selling devices on the market and with Tech Data's extensive reach and unrivalled stock-holding and logistics, the two companies hope their partnership will provide optimum availability and enable retail partners to maximise their opportunities in this rapidly growing sector of the market. Propel is already a renowned name and the company picked up Disney's Most Innovative Product 2016 award for its Star Wars drones. A whole new series of models are being added to this family ahead of the release of The Last Jedi (also known as Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi), which is scheduled 15 December 2017.
The partnership is Tech Data's first with a major drone manufacturer and sends a clear message to the market, said Matt Child, Managing Director of the Tech Data Consumer Technology Group (CTG).
