Exertis acquires MTR Group
2017-10-06

United Kingdom: broadliner Exertis has acquired MTR Group, a service and solutions provider specialising in 2nd generation lifecycle extension of mobile, wearable and tablet devices. MTR employs 60 staff at its bespoke high-tech refurbishment facility in Harlow, Essex. It generated sales of €13.22 million for the twelve months ended 30 November 2016 and has seen significant and sustained year on year growth since its incorporation in 2011 by founders and co-owners Steve Healy and Andy Payne. The strong relationship that MTR has with Samsung will enable Exertis to deepen its business entanglement with this key strategic brand as well as providing the opportunity to leverage MTR’s refurbishment and reverse logistics capabilities, and jointly expand these services to a wider range of potential partners.

Gerry O'Keeffe, Exertis UK & Ireland managing director, said: "MTR has enjoyed considerable success in providing refurbishment capabilities in the mobile and tablet device market. The recent impressive growth in revenue and profitability is a testament to the reputation that it has earned in the channel, borne out of years of refurbishment experience, a sophisticated IT infrastructure and also continued investment in its impressive high-tech and scalable refurbishment facility. We are very excited to add this success story to the Exertis family and are looking forward to continued growth and providing further added value for our suppliers and customers."

Steve Healy, MTR, managing director, said: "as Exertis and MTR's core values are so well aligned, this acquisition made complete sense. The benefits and opportunities of this exciting new chapter will extend to our existing and new customers and vendors alike, further enhancing the range of services and products offered. By leveraging the complementary strengths of both companies, we can only add to what is already an exciting proposition for the relationships currently held. We look forward to working with the Exertis management teams and building on the success of both companies."

Andy Payne, MTR sales director, added: "we're extremely excited about the journey and opportunities that lie ahead. MTR has already established itself as a market leader with its refurbishment and supply capabilities along with reverse and life cycle management solutions. Coupled with Exertis' OEM and Network relationships, this acquisition will make for a formidable force within the mobile/recycling sector."

Exertis becomes ESET MSP distributor
2017-09-01

United Kingdom: the network and security VAD division of broadliner Exertis has strengthened its relationship with ESET becoming a MSP distributor. The ESET MSP partner programme enables resellers to take advantage of volume pricing for licenses with the ability to add new seats in real time with a simple monthly billing process using Exertis' Security-as-a-Service proposition and their JEM Cloud portal.

Exertis' innovative Security-as-a-Service proposition enables resellers to offer their customers software deployment at affordable rates spread over 12 months without the need for expensive capital expenditure whilst providing end users with the latest protection. The JEM cloud based tool provides resellers and managed service providers with full control of quoting and ordering. Customers can build monthly quotes on ESET licenses, adjust margins to their liking by figure or percentage and export personalised quotations with their company’s letterhead. Once an order is activated the security monthly billing begins on a pro-rata, direct debt basis. Resellers can check the order status through JEM’s ticketing system however the live link-up for ESET software means the customer will have their generated keys within 20 minutes. Background administration is also made easy, with granular monthly invoice breakdowns, audited user activity, fully manageable software license portal and control over user privileges and access.

Jason Hill, Exertis' security sales director said: "with increasing cybersecurity threats, ransomware attacks, cloud and mobile security concerns and GDPR compliancy, together with the increasing demand for as-a-service outsourcing, Exertis' appointment as an ESET MSP distributor is timely, offering great benefits for customers. Our Security-as-a-Service proposition will appeal to a wide range of end user companies that need to deploy new security solutions in a cost effective and scalable manner and our resellers can manage that process easily and quickly with total flexibility."

"Following the launch of our successful business relationship with Exertis, we are excited to enhance this partnership even further with the addition of our MSP program. Exertis is a perfect partner for ESET to grow business within this market sector and to boost the ESET brand whilst communicating the benefits of our MSP offering", said Malcolm Tuck, managing director at ESET.

Announced in April, Exertis distributes ESET's entire B2B range including: Endpoints and Mobile Security; File, Mail, Gateway and Virtual Servers; Remote Endpoint Administration; Security Packs and Business Solutions.

Exertis appoints Business Intelligence Manager
2017-07-31

United Kingdom: broadliner Exertis has appointed Jonathan Wagstaff to the newly created position of Business Intelligence Manager. Based in Basingstoke with a European remit, his role will help to identify trends in the technology market, including new technologies, significant new market players (vendors, customers, operators, and others) and the impact of these new technologies on the distribution space. He will report to Stephen Casey, Finance & Development Director at DCC Technology.

"I am delighted to welcome Jonathan to Exertis. Exertis has undergone a successful period of growth with several key acquisitions across the Group. Whilst we have a very strong technology proposition, it's important we continue to identify and translate market opportunities into actions that can benefit our business, and also the business of our vendor partners and reseller customers both in existing and new territories. Jonathan's experience in data analytics and how the channel operates is ideally suited to fulfilling the task of providing business intelligence that can enable us to take the right decisions to meet our Group objectives", said Casey.

Wagstaff joins from Context, a leading European data analyst company that tracks sales and pricing information from within the IT channel, where he managed EMEA wide data collection projects for major ICT vendors and had responsibility for the UK and IE distribution, reseller and retail panels. He was also instrumental in setting up Context's VR Research Group and PC Gaming category tracking. Wagstaff said: "having worked at Context, I appreciate the importance of interpreting data and identifying trends, and the value that business analytics can bring to companies when making critical decisions. Data is often called the new oil; as distribution rapidly evolves and margins feel pressure its importance has shifted. Exertis is one of the largest and most successful technology distributors in Europe and their ambition to grow profitably, whilst looking for new market opportunities based on sound business intelligence, was a challenge that appealed to me."

With degrees from Oxford and Johns Hopkins Universities, Wagstaff has been a regular contributor to IT trade titles on research matters and has spoken at many industry events including the Plug In To Exertis channel event in May. He has specialist knowledge of the UK ICT supply chain and the global VR, Smart Home, and PC Gaming markets.
