Tech Data introduces new global brand

American broadliner Tech Data has introduced its new brand identity, highlighting the company's expanded reach and capabilities as a global leader in technology distribution and services. Following the company's transformational acquisition of Avnet's Technology Solutions business earlier this year, Tech Data has established a single global brand that capitalizes on the full reach, efficiency, and technical expertise of its new combined organization. Tech Data will now operate as a unified brand in all of its markets throughout the world, enabling channel partners to benefit from its unmatched end-to-end portfolio of products, solutions, and services. "As we evolve our business in anticipation of what's next, the Tech Data brand has evolved as well. Today we are proud to introduce the new Tech Data and the next chapter in the history of our company", said Bob Dutkowsky, chairman and CEO of Tech Data. "Our new global brand is centered on the proven strength of the Tech Data name and provides a unified promise of integrity, expertise and excellence. To enable a specialized approach while maintaining the exceptional service levels that partners expect from Tech Data, the company has grouped its offerings into two primary solutions portfolios under the Tech Data brand:

  • Tech Data's Endpoint Solutions portfolio, previously known as the company's broadline offering, primarily includes PC systems, mobile phones and accessories, printers, peripherals, supplies, software and consumer electronics.
  • Tech Data's Advanced Solutions portfolio includes primarily data center technologies such as storage, networking, servers, advanced technology software and converged/hyperconverged infrastructure. This portfolio also includes next-generation technologies such as cloud, IoT, mobility, security and analytics solutions.
  • Tech Data's next-generation technology solutions, as well as the company's services offering, including lifecycle, CRM, integration and supply chain services, span its Endpoint and Advanced Solutions portfolios. In addition to the company's two solutions portfolios, Tech Data will continue to go to market with three specialized solutions: Datech Solutions, Maverick AV Solutions and Global Computing Components. Azlan, Tech Data's pan-European enterprise specialist brand, will be transitioned over time and will be incorporated into the company's Advanced Solutions portfolio.

While Tech Data's logo will not change, the company's color palette and graphic devices have been updated to incorporate both its foundation and its new dimensions, blending the unique capabilities of Tech Data and Technology Solutions into a modern, global brand. Tech Data has also introduced new purpose, vision, and mission statements.

Tech Data announces revised management structure
2017-09-18

Czechia: broadliner Tech Data has unveiled a revised management structure for Czechia. Pavel Salák becomes country leader Czechia, responsible for the overall value and volume business. Salák was previously country manager for Avnet Technology Solutions, Czechia and since the close of the acquisition of this business by Tech Data, has led the value business in Czechia.

Tomas Cigler, who was previously country leader for Tech Data, Czech Republic, and since the acquisition, has led the volume business in Czech Republic, will be responsible for the volume business and Datech in the East region as regional director, Client Solutions and Datech, East, Tech Data. Salák and Cígler will report to Judith Ecker, regional vice president, East, Tech Data.

"We have already seen very pleasing incremental business in Czechia as a result of the integration of the two businesses", says Ecker. "Our combined business enables us to offer an increased knowledge and expertise to the market. We have a wider portfolio of vendors and are further investing in next generation solutions for the benefit of our partners and their customers."

Tech Data announces new management team
2017-05-09

Czechia: broadliner Tech Data has introduced a new management team for the Czech Republic, following the successful completion of the acquisition of Avnet Technology Solutions. The current leaders of Tech Data and Technology Solutions in the Czech Republic, Tomáš Cígler and Pavel Salák, will remain in leadership positions in the new combined organisation. Tomáš Cígler, previously country manager of Tech Data Czech Republic, becomes Volume country leader, and Pavel Salák, previously country manager of Avnet Technology Solutions Czech Republic, becomes Value country leader. Cígler and Salák will also be responsible for the integration of the combined Tech Data and Technology Solutions businesses. Both managers directly report to Judith Ecker, regional vice-president, East, who was previously responsible for the East Region at Avnet Technology Solutions.

"Throughout my career with Avnet Technology Solutions, I have had the honour to work with many committed and valuable employees, and many vendor and customer partners that have made us successful in our region. Tech Data completes acquisition of Avnet's Technology Solutions business

American broadliner Tech Data has completed its acquisition of the Technology Solutions business from its competitor Avnet. The combination creates a premier global end-to-end IT distributor with unmatched capabilities and the most diverse solutions from the data center to the living room. "This is a momentous day in our company's history and we are excited to welcome our talented colleagues at Technology Solutions to the Tech Data family", said Bob Dutkowsky, chief executive officer of Tech Data. "Our combined company is perfectly positioned at the epicenter of the IT ecosystem—with the scale and scope to serve dynamic markets throughout the world—giving our customers access to an end-to-end portfolio of IT solutions and efficiently bringing our vendors' products to new customers in more markets. Our organizations' common cultures, shared values and commitment to providing a world-class customer experience will serve as the foundation for the new Tech Data. Together, we will be an even stronger company, capable of doing more for our channel partners than ever before. The addition of Technology Solutions significantly broadens Tech Data's value-added distribution business (aka Azlan), increasing the company's ability to help its partners capitalize on next-generation technologies while enhancing its go-to-market capabilities with complementary skills, expanded vendor relationships, and new customer sets. The combined company has a larger and more balanced geographic footprint, including a presence in the Asia-Pacific region, a new market for Tech Data. Financial Terms

The total purchase price at close was approximately €2.35 billion (subject to certain post-close adjustments), including €2.17 billion in cash, and 2,785,402 shares of Tech Data stock, representing approximately 7.3% of Tech Data's shares outstanding (after issuance of the new shares). Tech Data financed the cash portion of the purchase price through a combination of €900 million from its recent public debt offering and €900 million of bank term loans, and the remainder from drawings under other credit facilities and cash on hand. The transaction is expected to be significantly accretive to Tech Data's non-GAAP earnings per share in the first full year. The company expects to achieve annual cost savings of approximately €90 million within 24 months, with one-time costs to achieve these cost savings expected to be approximately €135 million.

Tech Data Europe builds complete cloud ecosystem for Microsoft partners

Broadliner Tech Data Europe is creating a complete Microsoft cloud ecosystem that will enable partners to deliver the Microsoft's entire software stack, along with complementary solutions, quickly and efficiently through a single, integrated management platform. All of Microsoft's cloud-based solutions, including Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS), are available through the Tech Data Cloud Solution Store, powered by the company’s StreamOne platform, as part of the Microsoft Cloud Solutions Provider (CSP) program. This means resellers, VARs and MSPs can offer the full range of Microsoft solutions alongside complementary offerings through a single portal, and also make use of the monitoring and billing capabilities of Tech Data's platform to manage their customer accounts. "Microsoft solutions are widely used in most end-user organisations and many customers now want to use those applications in the cloud, so it's important that resellers can support the entire stack", said Reza Honarmand, vice president, Cloud, Europe at Tech Data. "In addition, customers need efficient ways to manage and integrate applications and ensure their data is properly backed-up, safe and secure. Through our Cloud Solution Store, Tech Data is providing not only the complete Microsoft suite under the CSP program, but also a whole range of complementary solutions and services that will enable VARs and MSPs to add value to the services they offer and enhance their long-term business prospects."

David Smith, vice president, Worldwide SMB for Microsoft, stated: "the cloud offers tremendous opportunity for our partners and mutual customers. By creating its Microsoft-centric cloud ecosystem, Tech Data is making it simple for our partners to put our best-in-class cloud solutions in the hands of customers."

Further strengthening Tech Data's portfolio of value-added services, the company has recently signed pan-European partnership agreements with the following four leading providers of complementary solutions and plans to make additional services available over the next several months:

  • NetEnrich: a global leader in cloud management which provides services on Microsoft Azure and other advanced cloud solutions. Its white-labelled offerings enable partners to provide management and operations services for data centres, network, unified communications, cloud, and security operations.
  • Spanning by Dell EMC: the leader in SaaS data protection, providing intuitive and scalable cloud-to-cloud backup and recovery services for Office 365. When human factors such as user error, misconfigurations or malicious behavior like ransomware cause Office 365 data to be deleted or damaged, Spanning enables administrators and end users to recover the data and continue business operations quickly and easily.
  • OneBizz: an integrated cloud business solution that encompasses Microsoft ERP, CRM and productivity software and simplifies Microsoft Dynamics and Office 365 environments, making it easy for resellers to offer these solutions to their customers as a fully integrated business solution.
  • Mandarine: a leading provider of instructor-led online training that drives user adoption of products such as Microsoft Office 365. It uses innovative tools to scale training to large numbers of employees virtually.
