Tech Data introduces new global brand

American broadliner Tech Data has introduced its new brand identity, highlighting the company's expanded reach and capabilities as a global leader in technology distribution and services. Following the company's transformational acquisition of Avnet's Technology Solutions business earlier this year, Tech Data has established a single global brand that capitalizes on the full reach, efficiency, and technical expertise of its new combined organization. Tech Data will now operate as a unified brand in all of its markets throughout the world, enabling channel partners to benefit from its unmatched end-to-end portfolio of products, solutions, and services. "As we evolve our business in anticipation of what's next, the Tech Data brand has evolved as well. Today we are proud to introduce the new Tech Data and the next chapter in the history of our company", said Bob Dutkowsky, chairman and CEO of Tech Data. "Our new global brand is centered on the proven strength of the Tech Data name and provides a unified promise of integrity, expertise and excellence. Tech Data serves as a beacon in the IT channel—central to our customers' and vendors' success. Our teams have highly specialized skills in next-generation technologies, extensive software and services capabilities, and the best logistics engine in the industry, all backed by a global IT system that can do anything from process the sale of a laptop to configure the most complex multi-vendor solution. Tech Data has become a company that delivers business outcomes—not just products—and we're excited for the future of our company as we help connect the world with the power of technology."

To enable a specialized approach while maintaining the exceptional service levels that partners expect from Tech Data, the company has grouped its offerings into two primary solutions portfolios under the Tech Data brand:

  • Tech Data's Endpoint Solutions portfolio, previously known as the company's broadline offering, primarily includes PC systems, mobile phones and accessories, printers, peripherals, supplies, software and consumer electronics.
  • Tech Data's Advanced Solutions portfolio includes primarily data center technologies such as storage, networking, servers, advanced technology software and converged/hyperconverged infrastructure. This portfolio also includes next-generation technologies such as cloud, IoT, mobility, security and analytics solutions.
  • Tech Data's next-generation technology solutions, as well as the company's services offering, including lifecycle, CRM, integration and supply chain services, span its Endpoint and Advanced Solutions portfolios. In addition to the company's two solutions portfolios, Tech Data will continue to go to market with three specialized solutions: Datech Solutions, Maverick AV Solutions and Global Computing Components. Azlan, Tech Data's pan-European enterprise specialist brand, will be transitioned over time and will be incorporated into the company's Advanced Solutions portfolio.

While Tech Data's logo will not change, the company's color palette and graphic devices have been updated to incorporate both its foundation and its new dimensions, blending the unique capabilities of Tech Data and Technology Solutions into a modern, global brand. Tech Data has also introduced new purpose, vision, and mission statements.

Tech Data expands partnership with Docker

Broadliner Tech Data has announced that its Azlan VAD division has extended its distribution agreement with Docker, to deliver their Enterprise Edition (EE) offering across a wider European footprint. This partnership further strengthens Tech Data's footprint in the data center market and provides partners with the ability to take a holistic approach to application and software development, deliver agility and flexibility to IT operations, and drive down operational costs. "Containerization is a fast-growing technology and we see a good opportunity with Docker to provide more of our customers with the competitive edge they need to stay ahead", said Jason Boxall, vice president Strategic Vendors & International Channels EMEA at Tech Data. "Tech Data is already an established leader in data center solutions and can provide an optimum platform for Docker's technology to transform more businesses across Europe. In turn, Docker will benefit from our extensive partner network as we work together to help drive adoption and integration with a range of technologies in various enterprise environments."

Tech Data will distribute Docker Enterprise Edition (EE), an integrated platform for developers and IT teams to collaborate, bringing improved security, policy and controls to the application lifecycle without sacrificing agility or application portability. Tech Data will also distribute all editions of Docker Enterprise Edition (EE) subscriptions: Basic, Standard and Advanced. This agreement will help to drive innovation in the cloud and leverage existing knowledge to create optimal data center environments. Docker Enterprise Edition provides organisations with an enterprise-ready management solution that allows developers to ship applications from development to production 13 times faster, while giving operations teams the ability to seamlessly migrate these workloads to the cloud.

The extended footprint includes Austria, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland, as well as all of the East region countries where it operates, including Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey and the Adriatic region. The rollout is being done in a phased approach, which started with Switzerland in March and Portugal and Spain in April. Additional countries will be rolled out over the coming months.

Tech Data adds NEXIONA IoT solutions to cloud solutions store

Broadliner Tech Data has announced that NEXIONA's innovative range of IoT software is now available on the Tech Data Cloud Solutions Store, powered by StreamOne, Tech Data's platform for end-to-end provisioning and billing of software and cloud services. Tech Data customers in Europe can now manage the complete sales cycle for NEXIONA's solutions using this digital platform, from initial purchase to license renewal, through local cloud stores in Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

"IoT is one of the top areas of focus for many of our partners' customers", said Colin Blair, vice president, Data Analytics and Internet of Things (IoT) at Tech Data. "The addition of NEXIONA to our Tech Data Cloud Solutions portfolio provides our partners with the broad set of tools they need to be successful in meeting the diverse needs of their customers."

NEXIONA is part of Tech Data's growing SmartForce IoT offering, which comprises a portfolio of validated end-to-end solutions for systems integrators, value-added resellers and service providers, providing them with the tools they need to deliver solutions and products quickly to the emerging IoT market. NEXIONA's MIIMETIQ software enables system integrators and service providers to rapidly and easily design, prototype, and commercialize their own industrial IoT applications by simplifying secure connection to physical devices and the management of all sensor data.

"To unlock the value of IoT, system integrators and solution providers need a way to quickly design, prototype, and turn new ideas into value-driving IoT applications", said Victor Paradell, vice president, Tech Data Smart IoT & Analytics, Europe. "Delivering NEXIONA's MIIMETIQ high-productivity application enablement platform through Tech Data's StreamOne gives our partners an easy, fast and cost-effective way to start building their own IoT platforms—with full control over their data—and migrating to new, more profitable service delivery models."

NEXIONA's platform supports more than 60 machine-to-machine (M2M) and IoT protocols and communication technologies, and is built on a flexible service-oriented architecture (SOA) that fully integrates with IBM Watson IoT and Microsoft Azure IoT Hub cloud services and is available from Tech Data as an integrated solution with the Dell Edge Gateway 5000 Series for rapid IoT framework development.

Tech Data announces European distribution agreement with Worldsensing for Smart City Solution

Broadliner Tech Data has unveiled a European distribution agreement with Worldsensing, a recognised specialist in wireless technology and smart software solutions. Through the agreement, Tech Data will offer FastPrk, an Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart parking management system through its Smart IoT Solutions business practice, which offers validated, end-to-end solutions for systems integrators and service providers, enabling them to identify and drive new revenue opportunities. FastPrk is an intelligent parking management system that allows cities and operators to manage parking resources more efficiently and parking operators to generate additional revenue. The wireless system uses smart sensors installed in parking spaces, enabling parking operators to direct drivers to areas with vacancies via electronic panels and mobile applications. Fastprk also enables cities and operators to gain control over parking utilization, while implementing better strategies on monetization of parking in line with demand.

"As our cities continue to grow rapidly, there is an increasing need to invest in smart technology to become more efficient, better connected and more environmentally friendly. For example, helping drivers find parking spots quickly reduces traffic and lowers carbon dioxide emissions with less fuel wasted", said Victor Paradell, vice president, Tech Data Smart IoT & Analytics, EMEA. "Our agreement with a global IoT pioneer in smart cities and wireless infrastructure sensor networks like Worldsensing adds a game-changing component to our portfolio, allowing our partners provide connected operational intelligence solutions to their clients."

Ignasi Vilajosana, CEO and co-founder of Worldsensing, said: "Welcoming Tech Data as a strategic partner is a great step forward for us and a huge milestone for our commercial expansion. We are looking forward to working closely with the Tech Data team and enriching our sales process with their experience and know-how."

Worldsensing product should be available through Tech Data's IoT BUs in Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
