United Kingdom: mobility specialist Data Select associate purchasing director Steve Hankey has left the company after more than a decade. He has been replaced by former Sainsbury’s mobile telecoms buyer Gareth Goddard. Hankey joined the Marlow-based hardware distributor in June 2007, in which time has seen the introduction of the Platinum Club for its reseller partners, which offers them a number of benefits to increase sales in the market while hosting bi-annual conferences. Prior to joining Data Select, he had been a senior buyer at 20:20 Logistics, where he was responsible for all areas of procurement for a number of Tier 1 manufacturers.

Network and cabling specialist Mayflex has appointed a new director of sales – security. Steve Proctor has commenced his role on the 1st August and his key responsibilities are to lead and support both internal and external sales teams, ensuring the continued growth and development of this area of the Mayflex business through taking market share, growing customer numbers and increasing project wins. Steve comes to Mayflex with a wealth of experience gained in the security industry over the last 40 years. Notable achievements have included the development and management of large sales teams, implementing business growth strategies, development of value add, consultancy led sales and marketing campaigns, and launching installer training and certification programmes.

Finally, AV broadliner Midwich has used summer to strengthen its portfolio with several new brands, including Joan (a meeting room booking solution), OrbitSound (audio speakers), Genie CCTV and 2N (IP security solutions). The latter will be distributed by Midwich Security, its IP security arm (source: Mobile News United Kingdom).

Maverick and PolarAudio find new partners, while Mayflex opens in Scotland and Nimans expands warehousing

United Kingdom: display vendor ViewSonic has entered a new agreement with AV distribution expert Maverick, following the success of their collaborations in France and Spain. The agreement sees Maverick become an official distributor of ViewSonic's AV products. Maverick are now offering next day availability on ViewSonic product ranges to its channel partners. Audio specialist PolarAudio has agreed a deal to become Radial Engineering's sole distributor in the country of Radial brands (Radial, Tonebone and Primacoustic). John Midgley, Polar MD, said: "Primacoustic is the first acoustic treatment product line we have been involved with and will dovetail well not only with our range of studio equipment but also into the wider installation sphere. Clearly, we are delighted to have secured this exclusive deal which expands and broadens the scope of our portfolio." Cabling and networking specialist Mayflex has opened training, meeting, and demonstration facilities in Scotland. Located at Maxim Business Park, Eurocentral, the office is operational since early April, and feature an M-Tech product demonstration area, as currently operated in London and Birmingham together with space for training sessions, meetings and presentations. Finally, telecom VAD Nimans is building a major warehouse expansion. Work has begun to increase floor space by over a third, with the multi-million-euro scheme on the outskirts of Manchester due to be completed by October. Chairman Julian Niman says the project represents a high profile symbol of how Nimans is gearing up for an even brighter future – ahead of the imminent launch of a new trade catalogue which showcases an expanded 8,000 strong product range.

New vendors for Beta Distribution and JGBM and another employee for Mayflex

British Isles: Stream TV Networks has signed a new distribution agreement with AV specialist Beta Digital Media Solutions (DMS). The partnership sees Beta DMS appointed the first UK distributor of Stream TV Networks' Ultra-D glasses-free 3D solution, and will also work closely with Signagelive and IAdea to deliver a full 3D digital signage solution designed specifically to enhance visual displays in public areas. The Ultra-D is propriety technology that generates a light field addressing human depth perception in a way close to seeing the real three-dimensional world. It is the only glasses-free 3D technology that delivers both a comfortable "real life" viewing experience and the human eye doesn't have to do all the work. Signagelive offers a cloud-based digital signage software platform that enables Stream TV Networks to deliver its Ultra-D solution to all customers who want to add the glasses-free 3D screens to existing networks.

Office Products technology specialist JGBM has been appointed as official distributor for Safescan. The Safescan product range available from JGBM will include counterfeit detectors, money handling products, all £1 and £5 ready machines that can be fully updated when the new £10 note is launched in June, along with time attendance systems, which is Safescan’s fastest growing product line. John George, JGBM's Managing Director, commented: "The partnership between JGBM and Safescan comes at a pivotal point with the sterling currency changes that are coming into effect this year."

Cabling and networking specialist Mayflex has appointed a new Group Purchasing Manager. Selwyn Smith will have overall responsibility for Mayflex UK and the ME region stock requirements. Selwyn brings a wealth of experience in purchasing, inventory management and wider supply chain expertise across a variety of distribution industries. Andy Cooper, Chief Operations Officer, commented: "I am delighted to welcome Selwyn to the Mayflex strategic management team, he brings great experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to the business which we are confident will be a benefit to the existing team and vendor partners. Selwyn will work closely with each vendor partner to ensure stock levels are consistent and that new products are brought to our customers in the shortest time frame possible. This appointment is one of many that have taken place in recent months within Mayflex. Our recruitment drive continues to move forward with numerous areas of the business both creating new roles and increasing the number of heads so that teams can continue to offer the levels of service our customers demand and have become accustomed to." Mayflex equips installers with knowledge and expertise

United Kingdom: cabling and networking specialist Mayflex is assisting both new and potential customers with gaining product knowledge and certifications by offering a whole host of free training courses and seminars. These sessions are being delivered alongside a number of vendor partners throughout the country well into 2017. Available courses include, Dahua certified installer training, the Aruba HPE Excellence Programme, Avigilon intro to IP Surveillance sessions, introduction to Wireless LAN and Aruba HPE instant access points. Tracey Calcutt, Marketing Manager at Mayflex, commented: "we want to equip our customers with the knowledge and expertise necessary to take advantage of revenue streams, that they may not traditionally be accustomed too. By working with our own team of experts and vendor representatives we can support customers who want to move into new areas. We are working closely with our vendor partners to make sure that there is always a choice of learning opportunities available. If there is something that customers would like help with, speak to us and we can try to provide a suitable learning opportunity." Mayflex also offers access to many other paid for training courses, working in conjunction with C-Net training.

Mayflex forms a distribution agreement with Dahua

United Kingdom: cabling and networking specialist Mayflex has formed a distribution agreement with IP security vendor Dahua Technology. Gary Harmer, Director of Sales, Electronic Security commented, "I am delighted to welcome Dahua on board with Mayflex. Incorporating this brand into our existing security product portfolio will introduce us to a host of new customer opportunities. New customers to Mayflex can be assured of a first rate, knowledgeable team of sales and technical personnel.
